SQ Chy's review hearing likely Wednesday

The hearing on review plea filed by war crimes convict BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury will likely be held on Wednesday, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam has said.

The AG said this on Tuesday while briefing media after ending the hearing on review plea of condemned war criminal Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid.

Earlier in the day, the court said hearing at the Appellate Division on the review petition against the death penalty of BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury will not be held today [Tuesday].

On Monday, on the Supreme Court website, the hearing on Mujahid’s plea was placed second and Salauddin’s plea was at number three in the cause list.

On 30 September, Appellate Division upheld death sentences for Jamaat leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed and Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, awarded by the International Crimes Tribunals for their crimes against humanity in 1971.

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court will give its order on the review petition of condemned war criminal Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid on Wednesday.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha fixed the date on Tuesday.

On October 14, Mujahid sought review of the SC verdict that upheld the capital punishment earlier this year after hearing their appeals challenging the war crimes tribunals’ verdict.
