Nur Hossain taken to Narayanganj

The prime accused in seven murder case Nur Hossain, who was brought back from India on Thursday night, has been taken to Narayanganj.

He was taken to Narayanganj in a microbus amid tight security on Friday.

RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan told the Dhaka Tribune: “He was brought to the RAB headquarters in Dhaka around 6am Friday. We handed him over to the investigation officer of the case after medical examination.”

He said the microbus carrying Nur left for Narayanganj around 6:45am.

Several private television channels reported that Nur Hossain has been taken to Narayanganj Police Line in the morning.

Nur was handed over to BGB 26 Battalion Deputy Commander Maj Liakat Ali around 11:32pm Thursday

He was brought back to Bangladesh a day after Ulfa leader Anup Chetia was handed over to the Indian government.

On April 27, 2014, Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam and six others were abducted. Later, their bodies were recovered from Shitalaykha river on April 30. Nazrul’s wife filed an abduction case against Nur and several others on April 28.

The government later arrested the suspected RAB officials, but Nur fled to India, allegedly with the help of local MP Shamim Osman. 

On June 15, 2014, the West Bengal police arrested Nur with some of his accomplices from Kolkata. He had been in Indian custody since then.
