Bengal Art Lounge inaugurated Chromatic Delusions. a solo exhibition of oil paintings by Maksuda Iqbal Nipa, on Saturday October 31 at 5:00pm. Trained in Japan, where she specialised in oil painting techniques, Maksuda Iqbal Nipa is renowned for her colourful abstractions, which she often composes on very large canvases. These exceptional formats form the backbone of Chromatic Delusions, where a number of powerful non-figurative artworks explore the depth and range of various tonalities.
The viewer is in perpetual bewilderment when facing Nipa’s chromatic studies - the slightest variations in lighting, distance or viewing angle seem to constantly reshuffle the entire composition. “The pigments and the surface are Nipa’s point of departure,” writes art critique Javed Jalil. “She then works the material with blind intuition combined with a deep feeling for the paint. Substances fuse and mingle into a holier fusion where mind, body and spirit thrive to sing as one,” he adds.
The exhibition is open daily from 12:00pm to 8:00pm until November 21 at Bengal Art Lounge (60, Gulshan Avenue - Gulshan 1). For more information, contact +88 029895135.
