The BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) Dog Squad has been deployed at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet in a bid to tighten security.
Six BGB members along with two trained dogs were deployed at the airport around 10am Wednesday, two days after the authorities deployed dog squads at Dhaka and Chittagong international airports.
Lutful Karim, deputy commander of BGB battalion-5, said in a press briefing: “We have taken the security measure in order to ensure maximum security.
“The members of the BGB will remain deployed until further announcement.”
BGB 41 Battalion Commander Lt Col Shah Alam Chowdhury told the Dhaka Tribune: “The squad has two trained dogs which are capable of detecting arms, narcotics and explosives.”
