BGB dog squad deployed at Ctg airport

The BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) Dog Squad was deployed yesterday at the Shah Amanat International Airport.

Members of the BGB also carried out a search operation at every nook and corner of the airport from 12pm.

Lt Col Emarat Hossain, commanding officer of BGB 28 Battalion of Chittagong, told the Dhaka Tribune that the Dog Squad was brought in to assist the regular security measures of the airport authorities.

Asked, if they fear any security threat Emarat Hossain said they deployed the Dog Squad as a precautionary measure.

The BGB will coordinate the security system of the airport authorities.

The squad has two trained dogs which are capable of detecting arms, narcotics and explosives, he said.

The members of the BGB will remain deployed until further announcement,” added Lt Col Hossain.

A total of 12 members (split into three teams) of the Dog Squad will stand guard at the airport round the clock.

On October 26, the security measures were heightened at Shah Amanat International Airport against the backdrop of recent murders of two foreign nationals and bomb attack on Shia Muslim community at the Hossaini Dalan in the capital.
