Gonojagoron Moncho has called a countrywide half-day general strike for Tuesday, protesting Saturday's attacks that left one publisher killed and three bloggers, including another publisher, seriously injured.
Imran H Sarker, the spokesman of a Moncho faction, made the announcement on Sunday.
However, he added that they will observe the situation for the next 24 hours. “If any significant development is made during that time span, we may reconsider our decision.”
“Otherwise, we will go for tougher programmes,” Imran further said.
Earlier in the day, the platform members observed a nationwide mourning programme over Saturday's incidents.
They also held a protest rally in Shahbagh intersection in the capital around 3:30pm Sunday.
