A seven-year-old school girl has been hacked to death in Chakpara Morol Market area under Mawna upazila of Gazipur district.
Naznin Akter, daughter of Akkas Ali and a class I student of Chakpara Primary School.
Her father abandoned her mother Asma Begum for his second wife. Later, Asma got married and started living with her new family at Salang while Naznin lived with her maternal grandparents.
Sreepur Sub-Inspector Aminur Rahman said three assailants entered the house identifying themselves as police in the absence of Naznin's grandfather and uncle on Thursday night.
He said they took the child out of the house and hacked her.
The SI said: “Hearing the screaming of her grandmother, a woman from the neighbourhood went to the house and found Naznin's body in the yard.”
Later, police recovered the body around 6:30am Friday and sent it to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College.
Naznin's uncle Ripon told Dhaka Tribune Naznin's maternal grandfather Hasmat Ali Hasu sold a land property to Abdul Kadir and Abdul Karim from the same area for Tk 17 lakh.
“They had been pressurising us for the registration of the land. They might have killed Naznin,” he said.
