Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have seized nine sacks of Indian smuggled tea and a sack of fireworks from Putkhali border of Benapole.
The seizure was made from Barpota field of the border on Friday.
Jessore BGB 26 Benapole Camp Commander Gias Uddin said: “Acting on a tip-off, they conducted a drive in the area around 5:30am. Sensing our presence, a group of 15-20 smugglers started hurling brick chips at us.”
At a stage, BGB members fired two cautionary shots to disperse the smugglers and recovered sacks filled with tea and fireworks from the spot.
The seized goods was handed over to Benapole Customs Authorities.
