Three women trafficked to India return home

Three Bangladeshi young women, who became victim of human trafficking, have returned home after languishing two years in Indian jail.

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) members from Petrapool camp handed over the victims, reportedly dwellers of Dhaka, Dinajpur and Narayanganj districts to the Benapole Check Post Camp BGB members around 7pm Wednesday.

BGB sources said human traffickers allured the women with lucrative job in India and confined them to a room there. Being informed, Indian police recovered them and sent them to local court that handed down them two years in jail for intrusion.

Later, an Indian NGO named Songlap gave shelter them after their release and informed the matter to the high-ups of both Indian and Bangladesh home ministries which later ensured their bringing back following the formal tasks.

Confirming the incident Benapole Check Post BGB Camp Subedar Jalal Hossain said they handed over the trio to Benapole port police authorities in the night after legal process.

Benapole port police station Officer-in-Charge Apurba Hassan said a trafficking victim supporting organisation namely Justice and Care received the women from them for handing over them to the family members.

Justice and Care organisation's representative Tariqul Islam said the three women were kept in shelter home in Jessore of Dhaka Ahsania Mission and they would be handed over to their kith and kin soon.
