Indian police have handed over the body of a Bangladeshi youth, who was gunned down by BSF on Jessore's Putkhali border early Tuesday, to the bereaved family members.
India's Gaighata police authorities with the help of Angrail BSF camp made the handover to Putkhali Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members around 9:45pm Wednesday.
When asked, Putkhali BGB camp Subedar Farid Uddin confirmed it and they later handed over the body to the family in that night.
In a flag meeting held in the noon, BSF expressed regret to its Bangladeshi counterpart for the killing and assured of handing over the body.
Monirul Islam, 28, hailing from Balunda village under Benapole police station, was killed in BSF firing while he along with several other cattle traders had gone to the border area to bring in cows smuggled by the Indians traders.
Later they dumped the body into the Ichhamoti River.
