Nur Hossain's repatriation after India's formal message

The government is awaiting formal message from its Indian counterpart to repatriate Nur Hossain, the prime accused in seven murder case of Narayanganj, following order of a West Bengal court.

"We came to know about an Indian court order on repatriation of Nur Hossain through newspapers. But, the Indian government has not yet informed us of the matter," Deputy Inspector General (DIG-operation) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamoon told BSS.

"After getting formal message from the Indian government, we will take initiative to bring Nur Hossain back to face the trial in the seven murder case," he also said.

The court order came as the Indian home ministry had accepted a request from Bangladesh government to send Nur Hossain back home.

Indian government had decided to withdraw the cases regarding illegal entry against Nur Hossain following the request.

Asked about repatriation of Nur Hossain, police super of Narayanganj Dr Khandoker Muhid Uddin told BSS today: "We are eagerly waiting to repatriate Nur Hossain. But, we are yet to get any formal letter to this end from the Indian government.

Earlier on October 16, additional chief judicial magistrate of North 24 Parganas district Sandipan Chakrabarty ordered repatriation of Nur Hossain.

The court accepted the plea for withdrawal of the cases of illegal trespass filed against Nur Hossain, who accused of masterminding the murder of his rival Nazrul Islam, a councilor of Narayanganj City Corporation councilor and also an Awami League leader, his lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar, and five others.

The seven were abducted from Narayanganj on April 27 last year. Later, their bodies were found floating in the Shitalakkhya River.

Soon after the killing Nur Hossain fled to India and was caught in Kolkata on June 15 last year on charges of illegal trespass.

Police submitted a charge sheet accusing 35 persons including Nur Hoosain before a Narayanganj court on April 8 this year in the seven murder case.

The 35 include 25 members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) including ex-top officials Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Arif Hossain and SM Masud Rana.

Selina Islam, wife of the slain Nazrul Islam filed a naraji (no confidence) petition with the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate H M Shafikul Islam in Narayanganj against the charge sheet on May 11, as names of five accused were dropped from the charge sheet.

The petition was later rejected by the court. Following the rejection, Selina filed revision with Narayanganj district and sessions' judge court. The court fixed November 9 for order on the revision.
