The government has appointed Shafiul Alam as the Cabinet Secretary who previously served as land secretary.
The Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Sunday.
Shafiul Alam will replace M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan who has been appointed Alternate Executive Director of the World Bank (WB).

A circular issued by the Public Administration Ministry on Sunday said Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan has been made the WB Alternate Executive Director for a period from December 15, 2015 to October 31, 2018 on contractual basis.
Shafiul Alam born in Cox’s Bazar on December 14, 1959, he completed his BA and LLB in 1979-80 and MA in English in 1981 from the Chittagong University.
He also did MS in Development Administration from the Birmingham University.
Before joining the land ministry, he was the secretary to the President’s Office.
Earlier, another circular of the ministry said Musharraf Hossain will go on retirement on December 14 this year.
He will enjoy a one-year ‘Post Retirement Leave’ from the time of his retirement.
Musharraf Hossain was made Cabinet Secretary on October 3, 2011. He was the 20th Cabinet Secretary of the government.
