Formulation of online media policy is now at the final stage, Information Secretary Mortuza Ahmed has said.
He said this while exchanging views with local journalists at the deputy commissioner's office in Sylhet on Saturday.
Mortuza Ahmed said a draft policy for the online media has already been prepared which is now on the website of the information ministry for taking opinion of journalists.
It will be finalized soon, he said, adding, the policy will help streamline the online media for the welfare of the people.
"We're also thinking formation of a separate wage board for electronic media," he said.
The present government, he said, enacted Right to Information Act to ensure free flow of information.
Permission has been given to a number of TV, newspaper, FM radio and community radios, he said.
He urged all to extend cooperation to the government for carrying out development activities.
With acting DC of Sylhet Md Shahidul Islam Chowdhury in the chair, Divisional Commissioner Jamal Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Director of Divisional Information Office Julia Jesmin Mili spoke at the meeting.
