Four people, including two of a family, have been killed in two separate road accidents in Gazipur.
The deceased are hotelier Ali Akbar, 60, his grandson Hridoy Hossain alias Lokman, 17, RMG worker Fahima Akhter, 16, wife of Sohel Rana of Netrokona and Faizuddin Forazi, 55.
Kapasia SI Mozumddar said: “A covered van of Shah Cement collided head-on with the motorcycle carrying Ali and Hridoy around 9:45am Friday, killing them on the spot.
He said locals seized the covered van but the driver managed to flee the scene.
Later, angry locals blocked Dhaka-Kishoreganj highway for almost an hour.
In another accident, RMG worker Fahima was killed when an unknown vehicle knocked her down in front of Columbia Sweater factory while she was crossing Dhaka-Mymensingh highway around 7:30am.
Naogaon highway outpost In-Charge SI Baharul Alam said her body has been sent to Gazipur Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, Faizuddin died in a collision between his bicycle and a temp near Kornopur Bazar around 8:30am.
Sreepur SI Abdus Sattar confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
