The government will upgrade the Syedpur and the Barisal airports into regional airports for connectivity.
Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism was apprised of the move at the 13th meeting of the committee held Wednesday at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
To this end, a proposal has already been sent to the ministry of civil aviation and tourism for conducting feasibility, design and preparing the master plan.
The committee was also informed that the Ishwardi airport is now ready for use. Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh would take necessary measures if any airline applies for operating flight using this airport.
The parliamentary body made recommendation to improve the service quality of Biman Bangladesh Airlines by increasing skilled manpower.
