Workers block road in Ctg to realise dues

Around 150 workers of a Readymade Garment Factory (RMG) have blocked road in Chittagong city’s Colonel Hat area under Akbar Shah police station for one hour demanding their outstanding wages.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sadip Kumar Das of Akbar Shah police station told the Dhaka Tribune that the workers of one Maskan Jeans and Fashion Limited took to the streets at around 2pm on Tuesday  in front of their factory at Badamtal intersection of Colonel Hat area, halting the traffic movement at the entry point of the city over their wage arrears of last month.

Industrial Police’s Detective Branch Inspector Arifur Rahman said the factory authorities were scheduled to clear the wages of some 150 apparel workers for the month of September by Tuesday.

But, the factory authorities did not repay the wage dues by the timeframe.
