Four Adomyo Bangladesh volunteers get bail

A Dhaka court has granted bail to four members of voluntary organisation Adomyo Bangladesh, who were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Yusuf Hasan granted the bail following a petition filed by the volunteers' counsel Barrister Bibhuti Tarafdar on Monday afternoon.

High ups to get double salaries

The government has doubled the salaries of the president, prime minster, speaker, chief Justice, ministers and lawmakers.

The cabinet has approved a proposal to increase the pay scale in its regular meeting on Monday afternoon.

Ex-minister's nephew kills weaver in Sirajganj

Nephew of former fisheries and livestock minister Abdul Latif Biswas has stabbed a weaver to death at Enayetpur of Sirajganj.

The deceased is Abdul Kader, 35, son of Nur Hossain of Khidro Goprakhi village.

2 Jamaat leaders held in Rajshahi

Detective Branch (DB) of police have detained two leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami from Terkhalia area in Rajshahi.

The detainees are Amzad Uddin Mondol, 42, assistant secretary of Jamaat's Rajshahi city unit and Zilur Rahman, 55.

At least 40 IS fighters killed in Syria air strike

At least 40 Islamic State fighters have been killed in an air strike on their convoy in the Syrian province of Hama, a UK-based monitoring group reported on Sunday.

The attack, which took place on Saturday, also destroyed 16 vehicles in the convoy, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors violence in the country through a wide network of sources on the ground.

China's economic growth declines to 6-year low

China's economy decelerated in the latest quarter but stronger spending by consumers who are emerging as an important pillar of growth helped to avert a deeper downturn.

The world's second-largest economy grew by 6.9 percent in the three months ended in September, the slowest since early 2009 in the aftermath of the global financial crisis, data showed Monday. That was down from the previous quarter's 7 percent.
