The government is going to form a Non-government Teachers Selection Commission (NTSC) to ensure merit-based teacher recruitment for non-government schools, madrasas and colleges.
“The NTSC will be set up in the style of Public Service Commission aimed at removing all sorts of irregularities in the recruitment process. The process of establishing NTSC is underway and hopefully it will be formed within one or two months,” Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told reporters in a press briefing at the Education Ministry yesterday.
The commission will conduct examinations for potential candidates, prepare merit list and recruit persons for vacant posts.
The minister added that the final appointment will be given to the teachers by the directorial board of the respective schools.
Nahid said malpractices are taking place in the existing recruitment system under the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration & Certification Authority (NTRCA), which will be dissolved.
Education Secretary Md Nazrul Islam Khan, Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Professor Fahima Khatun, officials of the ministry, among others, were present at the press conference.
The NTSC will hold registration examinations on the basis of recruitment demand and limited candidates will be selected through examinations.
Jatiya Shikkhak-Karmachari Front Chief Coordinator Kazi Faruk Ahmed said: “We welcome the NTSC. We think the body will ensure recruitment of quality teachers.”
