Global Handwashing Day observed in city

The Global Handwashing Day 2015 was observed in the city yesterday.

Uniliver organised a function at the International Convention City Basundhara marking the day.

At the function, “Lifebuoy Lifesaver Volunteer Program” was inaugurated.

The inauguration was attended by artist Mustafa Monwar. He thanked Lifebuoy for reaching children to raise awareness about handwashing and hygiene.

There was a handwashing episode at the beginning of the function as part of awareness campaign.

Presentations showed the Lifebuoy’s journey in Bangladesh and launching of the Lifebuoy Hospital.

Lifebuoy is a hygiene products brand of multinational company Unilever.

By 2020, Lifebuoy aims to change the handwashing habits of 1bn people and to lessen child mortality rate from diarrhoea.

Gitiara Safia Chowdhury, former caretaker government adviser, attended at the function.

Asiatic Three Sixty Group Chairman Ali Zaker and Uniliver Bangladesh Brand Building Director Javed Akhter were also present.
