Prince documentary featuring Bono, Mick Jagger slated for 2017

The documentary, titled Prince: R U Listening? will be directed by Michael Kirk. Apparently, the film will focus on the beginnings of Prince’s career and his path to stardom.

It seems that Kirk has gathered an impressive group of collaborators to help tell Prince’s story. In addition to the likes of Bono, Mick Jagger, Lenny Kravitz, and Billy Idol, Prince will bring together the icon’s former band mates and close friends, inclulding Dez Dickerson, Prince’s first guitar player, and Sheila E.

Purple Rain, Prince's magnum opus, will also be re-issued next year with adding unreleased material from the artist. Last November, a greatest hits album entitled Prince 4Ever was released just before Thanksgiving, which includes 40 well-known songs, and also includes “Moonbeam Levels,” a previously unreleased track.

Swiss film distribution company Ascot Elite Entertainment Group to release the documentary next year in Europe. An American release date has yet to be confirmed, although it is being produced by the United States company 13 Films.
