The European Day and the 13th World Day Against the Death Penalty will be observed across the world today aiming to raise awareness for abolishing the capital punishment.
The European Union and the World Coalition, a platform of 160 NGOs, observe the day on October 10 every year.
On the eve of the day, heads of Missions of the European Union on Thursday expressed their hope that Bangladesh, as a member of the UN Human Rights Council, would implement the UN Resolutions and contribute to the enhancement of fundamental rights and human dignity in the world.
The World Coalition against the Death Penalty was formed in 2002 and observed the first World Day against the Death Penalty in 2003.
