2 bank officials held over Kunio Hoshi murder

Detectives have detained two BRAC bank officials of Rajshahi branch in connection with the murder of Japanese national Kunio Hoshi.

The detainees were identified as Md Sultan Nahid, sales and service officer, and HM Shahriar, credit card officer of BRAC Bank.

Azhar Ali, sub-inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Police in Rajshahi, confirmed about the detainment to the Dhaka Tribune.

“Four officials of BRAC bank, Rajshahi branch, were held on Thursday night on way to home after banking activities. Later, two of them were released after primary interrogation,” said Azhar.

However, Nahid and Shahriar were taken to Rangpur from Rajshahi on Friday morning for further interrogation, said the police official.

On Saturday, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police arrested Rashedun Nabi Biplab and Humayun Kabir Hira from Rangpur.

Japanese citizen Hoshi Kunio, 55, was shot to death by unknown miscreants at Alutari in Kaunia upazila in Rangpur on October 3.
