A magistrate court in Narayanganj has asked authorities to publish an advert asking the absconding accused of the seven-murder to surrender.
Yesterday, the court of Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate HM Shafiqul Islam also rejected a bail plea from one of the prime accused Lt Col Tarek Sayeed, dismissed commander of RAB 11.
Following yesterday’s hearing, the court will resume on November 9. On that date, the authorities will have to produce a copy of the advert and then the case would be transferred to a judge’s court for beginning formal trial.
During yesterday’s proceedings, Lance Corporal Ruhul Amin applied for the withdrawal of the confessional statement that he had given earlier under section 164 of the penal code. He said he had not been able to appoint a lawyer from Narayanganj.
“The court rejected Tarek Sayeed’s bail plea because he is the prime suspect. His name has come up many times in confessional statements,” said Fazlur Rahman, additional public prosecutor of Narayanganj.
