Community healthcare workers demand regularisation of job

Community healthcare workers yesterday staged protests in a number of districts to highlight their demand for making their employment permanent.

In Rajshahi’s Saheb Bazar Zero Point, local members of Community Healthcare Provider Association formed a human chain to press home their demand around midday.

President of the association’s Rajshahi district unit Sayem Hasan warned that healthcare workers at the community clinics would refuse to serve if the demands were not met soon.

He said taking the jobs of community healthcare workers under a trust was equal to undervaluing their profession.

Workers of 238 community clinics in Rajshahi joined the protest.

Locals members of Community Healthcare Provider Association in Chapainawabganj formed a human chain outside the district press club around 11:30am.

They said the role of community healthcare workers in the country’s remote areas had been hailed both nationally and internationally but their jobs had not yet been regularised.
