Traffic goes haywire on Dhaka-Tangail highway

Holidaymakers heading towards the northern districts are facing huge tailback on Dhaka-Tangail highway.

The traffic gridlock worsened since Wednesday late night due to extra pressure of vehicles carrying passengers to their home town for Eid, our senior photographer Syed Zakir Hossain reports from Savar.

A 30-kilometre long tailback was created on the highway early in the morning. Vehicles stretch from Alenga to Asifpur and Pakulla to Mirzapur came to a standstill around 4am.

Our Tangail correspondent reported that traffic condition got eased around 7am but vehicles are moving at a snail's pace.

Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival for Muslims, will be celebrated across the country on Friday [tomorrow].
