At least 30 people have been injured when a bus hit a roadside tree at Dapdapia on the Barisal-Patuakhali highway in sadar upazila.
Of the injured, 27 were admitted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Among them condition of five were critical, said SBMCH ward master Abul Kalam.
The accident took place when the Barisal-bound bus hit a roadside tree after slamming against the boundary wall of Sonargaon Textile Mills as its driver lost control over steering around 8am Friday.
Local people, fire brigade and police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured passengers.
Driver and the other staffs of the bus managed to flee from the scene and police seized the bus, said Sub-Inspector Pran Krishna of Barisal Kotwali police station.
