Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will fly to New York to attend the 70th session of the UN General Assembly on September 23.
She will lead a 60-member government delegation and a business delegation will also accompany her, said Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali at a press conference yesterday.
The foreign minister, finance minister, expatriate welfare minister, political, economical and international affairs advisers to the prime minister, state minister for women and children affairs, and State minister for foreign affairs will accompany her.
She will leave New York on October 1.
The foreign minister said this UNGA session is very important as Sustainable Development Goals would be adopted in this session.
The prime minister is expected to give speech at the post-2015 development agenda summit, UNGA general debate, Women empowerment summit and fighting violent extremism summit, he said.
She will also co-chair two events – peacekeeping summit orgainsed by US President Barack Obama and Fostering Sustainable Economic Growth hosted by Belgiun Prime Minister, he added.
“The prime minister will deliver speech in Bengali at the general debate on September 28,” Mahmood said.
She will receive Champion of the Earth Award on September 27.
She will also receive ICT’s Sustainable Development Award.
