According to the petition, Tarique and Jahid demeaned Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by referring to him as a friend of Pakistan.
While addressing a programme in London on December 15, 2014, Tarique called Bangabandhu a “Razakar,” a term signifying collaboration with the Pakistani military during the Liberation War.
The complaint said Jahid, also special advisor to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, in a written statement on December 30, 2014, demanded the posthumous trial of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for establishing a dictatorship by introducing the Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League or BAKSAL and for culpability for killings that took place at the time.
In the complaint, Fazlul claimed Tarique and Jahid both made derogatory, false and fabricated statements against Bangabandhu, who was assassinated in 1975.
Tarique, the elder son of former prime minister Khaleda Zia, stands accused of murder, sedition and defamation in several cases brought against him.
