According to the election schedule, the deadline for the submission of nomination papers is September 30 while the date for the scrutiny of the nomination papers is October 3 and the last date for the withdrawal of candidature is October 11, reported UNB.
Tangail-4 constituency was declared vacant from September 1 after the expelled Awami League leader, Latif Siddique, tendered his resignation letter to the Jatiya Sangsad Speaker.
In September last year, the now-former Tangail lawmaker and then telecom minister Latif faced severe criticism from different quarters after making untoward remarks about Hajj and Tabligh Jamaat at a programme in the USA.
A number of lawsuits have been filed against him in the country for hurting religious sentiments. Later he was expelled from the Awami League and fired from the cabinet.
