The students of different private universities have taken to the streets in Dhaka, demanding withdrawal of the 7.5% VAT imposed on their tuition fees.
Several hundred students have boycotted classes as a part of their protest.

04:00pm: Shankar near Lalmatia is blocked. Traffic is medium to light in Shahbagh. Mirpur road and Shatmasjid road is blocked.

01:30: Brac University students brought out a rally in the morning and then blocked Mohakhali-Gulshan road.
01:03: Our report Syed Samiul Basher Anik reported that the agitated students blocked Housebuilding crossing as well as Abdullahpur crossing and started protesting against VAT.
Traffic from Uttara, Tongi and Abdullahpur came to a halt due to the blockade.
12:30pm: Traffic from Russell Square to Panthapath signal and Bashundhara City to Panthapath came to a halt as the students of Dhaka International University (DIU) and World University blocks the road in Panthapath signal area.
Badda, Rampura, Dhanmondi, Elephant road, Nilkhet experienced heavy traffic while Mogbazar, Gulshan, Kakoli, Banani, Saarc Circle, Shahbagh, Bangla Motor areas witnessed slow movements.
Traffic movement is running smoothly in Uttara, Bijoy Soroni, Jahangir Gate, Mohakhali, Farmgate, Malibagh, Ramna.
11:30am: Vehicular movement from Satmasjid Road, Asadgate crossing to Sukrabad crossing, Science Laboratory crossing came to a halt due to the demonstrations of State University Bangladesh (SUB) and University of Development Alternatives (UDA) students.

Meanwhile, the students of North South University (NSU) and Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) blocked the road in front of the gate of the Basundhara Residential Area, our reporter Jebunnesa Alo reports.
There is no traffic congestion in the city but Bangla Motor, Bijoy Soroni, Jahangir Gate, Mohakhali, Saarc Circle, Kakoli, Banani, Gulshan, Mogbazar, Badda, Rampura, Shahbagh experienced slow traffic movement.
Uttara, Farmgate, Nilkhet, Dhanmondi, Elephant road, Malibagh and Ramna witnessed normal traffic movement.
