Blogger Ananta murder suspect on fresh remand

A local court has granted a seven-day remand anew to a suspect arrested in the secular blogger Ananta Bijoy Das murder case.

Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court 1 Judge Sahedul Karim Wednesday gave the order in reply to a 15-day remand appeal of CID Inspector and also investigation officer of the lawsuit Arman Ali.

When asked, Sylhet airport police station Assistant Sub-Inspector Bijoy confirmed the fresh remand to alleged killer Abul Khair Rashid.

On September 2, CID personnel held Rashid from Tukerbazar area of Sadar upazila as the third suspect following the arrest of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) student Mannan Rahi and his brother Mohaimin Noman.

Later, a court granted seven-day remand at first phase to Rashid.

On May 12, miscreants hacked to death Ananta in front of his house in Nurani residential area in the city and the case was launched.

Of the arrested, Mannan Rahi pleaded his guilty in the murder to a local court.
