At least five people have been killed and 20 others injured in a road accident in the district's Tarash upazila.
Of the deceased, three were identified as Atab Ali, 30, of Ullahpara upazila, Badsha Mia,42, of Shahjadpur Upazila in Sirajganj, and Mijahar Ali,61, hailed from Gurudashpur Upazila in Natore.
Hatikumrul Highway police station OC Kader Jilani said: “A Chapainawabganj-bound bus of Desh Paribahan collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound bus of Bhaibondhu Paribahan on Hatikumrul-Natore Highway around 10:15pm Tuesday.
“In the meantime, a speedy-driven truck hit both the vehicles and under its impact the bus of Desh Paribahan veered off the road and plunged into a roadside ditch.”
The accident left four people dead on the spot and 20 others injured, said the police official. “Later, one person died at Natore Sadar Hospital around 1:30am Wednesday while undergoing treatment.”
