Four children have drowned in Gazipur district's Kapasia and Shreepur upazilas on Monday.
In Kapasia, two children have drowned in a local swamp in Mahisgbathan area on Monday afternoon.
The deceased are Sohana, 4, daughter of Mamun Akand, and Tamim, 3, son of Asmot Akand.
Family members said Sohana and Tamim fell into the waterbody while playing on the bank.
Hearing the hue and cry of other children, locals rushed in and rescued the children in a critical condition. Later, they were declared dead by the doctors of Gazipur Shahid Taz Uddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.
On the other hand, two more children have drowned in Shreepur upazila the same day.
The deceased are Shipon, 5, son of Sirajul Islam of Rajabari village, and Neela Akter, 14, daughter of Masum Hossain, a KSA expatriate.
Shipon fell into the waterbody while playing on the bank. Later, he declared dead around 2:30pm after the locals rushed him to Shahid Taz Uddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.
Neela went to hang out in boat in the river with her mates.
All of a sudden, The boat carrying four including her upsided down in the middle of the river. The others managed to swam accross to the brink, however, Nila failed.
Hearing the screams of her fellows, locals rushed to the spot and rescued her.
She was taken to Shahid Taz Uddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared her dead, her cousin Zahirul Islam said.
