A criminal has been killed in a "gunfight" with police at Shamserpara under Chandgaon police station in Chittagong.
Deceased Arman Hazari, 28, was accused in more than 30 cases.
Sub-inspector of Chandgaon police station Jakir Hossain said: "Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive in Chanmia residential area around 4am Saturday. Sensing the presence of police, Arman's associates opened fire at the law enforcers, forcing them to fire back."
He said Arman received bullet during the "gunfight" while his associates managed to flee the scene.
He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, CMCH police outpost ASI Pankaj Barua said.
Four policemen were also injured in the incident. Police also recovered three guns from the spot.
