Jatiya Party faction Chairman Kazi Zafar Ahmed has died at a hospital in Dhaka.
He died in capital’s United Hospital on Thursday morning.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Press Secretary Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed about the death to the Dhaka Tribune.
Shairul said Kazi Zafar was admitted to the hospital in the morning following cardiac problems.
In November 2013, former president HM Ershad expelled Kazi Zafar from the party for making frequent statements against him “violating the party charter.”
On the same day, Kazi Zafar sent a suspension letter to Ershad claiming that he was the “all-in-all” of the Jatiya Party, not Ershad. But he also mentioned in the printed letter in handwriting that he had “expelled” the party chief.
Kazi Zafar had been a JP leader for over three decades.
In January 2014, he formed a party of the same name and joined the BNP-led alliance.
