Bengal Foundation presents the sixth chapter of the monthly series “Understanding Dance with Sharmila Banerjee.”
The latest episode, named Folk and Tribal Dance Part I, will take place on August 25 at the Daily Star, Bengal Arts Precinct in Kawran Bazaar at 7pm.
The series is curated and presented by celebrated artist, choreographer and educator, Sharmila Banerjee. The event on August 25 will be an evening of lectures and demonstrations complimented by audio-visual content and practical demonstrations of various forms of folk and tribal dances from Bangladesh and West Bengal.
The few focused areas of this episode will be an introduction, history and evolution of folk and tribal dance forms, their significance followed by demonstrations, which include folk dances such as Pata nach, Paik nach, Mayurbhanj Chhau, Tripura, Jum Nach, Raibenshe and many more.
