125 more Bangladeshis who were found adrift near the Myanmar coast are set to return home on Tuesday.
The repatriation will be made following a flag meeting between the Border Guard Bangladesh and Myanmar Immigration Department near the Ghumdhum zero point will be held around 10am.
Cox's Bazar BGB 17 Commander Lt Col Mohammad Rabiul Islam, who will lead the 18-member delegation to Myanmar, confirmed the news.
He told the Dhaka Tribune: “Apart from the BGB members, the 18-member team includes officials from district administration, police and a doctor.”
The BGB official added that recently 20 Bangladeshi inmates were released form a Myanmar jail on the eve of a special day. “Nine of them are among the 125 people.”
Asif Munir, National Programme Officer of the International Organisation for Migration, said the 125 people have been identified as the residents of 14 districts.
“Most of them are from Cox's Bazar. The rest are from Bandarban, Feni, Bhola, Chandpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Rajbari, Brahmanbaria, Gazipur, Tangail, Dhaka, Kishoreganj and Meherpur,” he added.
The official said the repatriated people would be sent to their home providing food, medicine, travel fare, and other humanitarian assistance under IOM 's supervision.
Additional Superintendent of Police Tofail Ahmed of Cox's Bazar said among the 125 victims, 20 to 30 are children.
Myanmar Navy rescued 935 migration seekers from their maritime boundary earlier in the year.
Of the rescued people, 501 Bangladeshis have been brought back after identification four phases.
