Different Bangladeshi missions abroad have observed the National Mourning Day on Saturday.
Bangladesh embassy in Warsaw organised an elaborate programme to pay homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other family members who were assassinated on August 15, 1975.
The programme included hoisting national flag half mast, discussions, special prayer and a film show on Bangabandhu, says a press release.
The messages from the President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammad Shahriar Alam were read out at the beginning of the discussions.
Ambassador Mahfuzur Rahman mentioned the success and achievements of the present government and urged everyone to work in unison to realise the dream of Bangabandhu.
Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok observed the day with utmost respect and due solemnity.
The day started with lowering the national flag to half-mast by Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand Saida Muna Tasneem.
Expatriate Bangladeshis living in Thailand which included Bangladeshi professionals working at UNESCAP and different universities, leading businessmen attended a milad mahfil followed by a special prayer.
Bangladesh embassy in Tashkent organised a discussion meeting and dua and munajat at the Chancery premises.
During the discussion, speakers cautioned that the anti-liberation forces are active to thwart progress and achievements.
In this respect, they pointed to the deep conspiracy behind the assassination of the great leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and urged all to be united to resist such forces in the future.
