Chittagong University Teachers’ Association (CUTA) have observed full-time work abstention programme on the campus, demanding review the 8th National proposed pay scale what it said the pay scale is discriminatory for the university’s teachers.
Professor Khasrul Alam Quddusi, general secretary of CUTA, said no class was held at the university during their Sunday’s protest programme against the proposed pay scale as the teachers of different faculties had observed the programme spontaneously.
He also demanded immediate review of the pay scale and sought the intervention of Prime Minister (PM) to resolve the issue.
Campus sources, however, said the scheduled examinations were held at the different departments during the work abstention programme.
Soon after publishing the proposed pay scale, CUTA has been observing several protest programmes including holding press conference, formation of human chain, abstention for work, since last three months terming it “discriminatory” for the university.
