Bangladesh is sending life-saving medicines worth about Tk1 crore for the flood-hit people of Myanmar.

The medicine is being sent at the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The medicines would be sent to Myanmar through a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 12:30pm on Saturday, BSS reported quoting PM's Press Wing sources.

Senior officials of the Prime Minister's Office including PM's Principal Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad visited the Central Medical Stores Depot at Tejgaon in Dhaka on Friday morning to see the medicines that would be sent to Myanmar.

Talking to reporters, the PM's Principal Secretary said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very much sincere and always ready to provide any kind of human assistance for the necessity of Bangladesh's neighbours.

Replying to a question, he said the Myanmar government is yet to make any request to Bangladesh for sending medical team.

"But we are always ready to send medical team there for their necessity," he said.
