In addition to the usual traffic rush, Dhaka dwellers faced immense traffic jam yesterday because of a rally being organised by Dhaka South City Corporation at Suhrawardy Udyan.
Long tailbacks were created in the areas surrounding the venue of the rally. Vehicles remained stuck for hours on the streets near Matsya Bhaban, Shahbagh, Dhaka University campus, DMCH. The effect of traffic jam could also be seen for hours in Purana Paltan, Kakrail, Farmgate, Elephant Road, Kalabagan, Panthapath, and Green Road.
Chaired by DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon, the rally was addressed by central leaders of the Awami League. The DSCC organised the rally as part of its programmes to mark the 40th anniversary of the August 15 massacre.
