A high-profile government meeting yesterday has resolved to call on Bangladeshi citizens staying abroad to collect their Machine Readable Passports (MRP) by November 24, 2015.
According to International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) directives, all Bangladeshi citizens must re-issue their passports within the stipulated time, replacing their handwritten passports.
The meeting, chaired by Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, held at the secretariat made this request. Abul Kalam Azad, principle secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, Khurshed Alam Chowdhury, secretary of the Civil Aviation Ministry, and senior Foreign Ministry officials were also present at the meeting. Those who do not carry the MRP after November 24 will no longer be able to travel abroad.
