SC seeks information about Imran H Sarkar

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has asked the attorney general to collect detail information about Gonojagoron Moncho spokesperson Imran H Sarkar.

In a press conference, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said the apex court asked him to submit the information about Imran before it.

In response to a query about the reason, Mahbubey Alam said: "Imran made various comments about the war crimes trial in several times. That's why the court sought detail information about him."

He said the court would ask Imran to explain about his comments and concerns on war crimes cases and the tribunal verdicts.

A four-member bench headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha came up with the order on Wednesday morning, after delivering verdict on Salauddin Quader's appeal against his death penalty handed down by a war tribunal.

The International Crimes Tribunal 1 sentenced him to death on four charges. The Supreme Court upheld the judgement. The top court also upheld Salauddin Quader's conviction in four other charges.

On October 1, 2013, the tribunal found notorious war criminal Salauddin, 66, guilty of nine of the 23 charges brought against him by the prosecution.
