BSF firing kills one on Naogaon border

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has shot dead a Bangladeshi cattle trader on Adatala border in Shapahar upazila early yesterday.

The trader is Ziaur Rahman, 35, son of Motiur Rahman, from Dakkin Patari village of the upazila.

When asked, Naogaon 14 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Commanding Officer Rafiqul Hasan acknowledged the killing, saying the incident took place around 5am.

The BGB commander continued that a patrol team from Rangamati BSF camp opened fire on some cattle traders including Ziaur while they were returning to Bangladesh near 242/10 border pillar in the village, leaving him dead on the spot.

After the incident, the BSF men took away the body to Indian territory.

Being informed, local BGB sent a letter to its Indian counterpart protesting the incident and asked them to return the body, the BGB official went on, adding that the BSF in the reply said the handover could take some time.
