Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) authorities have suspended Jalalabad police station Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Hossain for negligence in his duty in Rajon murder incident.
Rahmatullah, assistant deputy commissioner (media) of SMP, said Alamgir Hossain has been attached to Rangpur range after suspension.
On Saturday, Alamgir Hossain was closed and sub-inspectors Aminul and Jakir Hossain were suspended.
Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, the ill-fated teenager was tortured to death by a group of persons at Kumargaon on the outskirts of Sylhet city around 7:30am on July 8.
A 28-minute video, recorded on a mobile phone camera, shows the victim tied to a pole in front of a workshop in the still-closed Sultan Ali Market, beside the Dhaka-Sunamganj road.
From the video, it seemed there were five to six men who took part in the barbaric torture.
A murder case was filed in this connection by Jalalabad police, in which Rajon’s father later became a plaintiff.
The three-member probe body, which was formed to investigate the brutal killing of 13-year-old boy Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, has submitted a 424-page report on July 23.
Earlier on July 14, the committee was formed following an allegation made by Rajon's father, also the plaintiff of the case that two officials of Jalalabad police station took bribes to help one of the suspects – Kamrul Islam – to flee to Saudi Arabia.
