Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Chittagong division during 24 hours.
Due to active monsoon over southern part of Bangladesh, Chittagong division may experience heavy rainfall commencing from Sunday morning, according to a Met Office warning.
Landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chittagong division due to very heavy rainfall, says the warning.
The heavy downpour has inundated different areas of Chittagong causing sufferings to the city dwellers.
Roadside shops and shanties were submerged. People were seen trying to scoop out the rainwater from their houses with buckets.
Most areas of the city including Halishahar, Beparipara, Sholoshahar, Muradpur, Aturar Dipo, Bibirhat, Bahaddarhat, Chwakbazar, Sulokbahar, Panchlaish, Saraipara, Pahartali, Sagarika and lower parts of Patenga coastal zone went under knee-deep water.
The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Mongla have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number 3.
