Sirajganj road crash again claims 5 lives

At least five people have been killed in a road accident at west side of Bangabandhu Bridge in Mulibari area early Tuesday, two days after another fatal collision claimed 16 lives at the same place.

At least 29 people were killed in separate road accidents in the area in last four days.

The identities of Monday's deceased could not be known immediately.

Sirajganj police station SI Golam Mostafa said: “A bus of Shyamoli Paribahan rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw around 12:30am, leaving three people dead on the spot and four others injured.

"Later, of the injured, two succumbed to their injuries at the Sadar Hospital. All the victims were the passengers of the auto-rickshaw."

On July 19, a Rangpur-bound bus of Sabbir Hossain Paribahan from Chittagong and Dhaka-bound bus of Azad Paribahan from Gaibandha collided head-on in the same area, leaving 12 people dead on the spot.

Later, four more people succumbed to their injuries at hospital.

A couple and their son lost their lives in another road crash in the area on July 18.

Besides, five RMG workers were killed in another road accident occurred at the same place on July 17.
