Sheikh Hasina yesterday said the government had taken initiatives to formulate wage board for the electronic media.
“Wage board for the electronic media would be formed as per the existing law,” she told parliament responding to a query.
The leader of the house also said her government had also taken steps to establish Journalists Welfare Trust. She also said Bangladesh Press Council Act-1974 would be updated.
The premier said the government had distributed Tk2.60 crore among 427 journalists and deceased journalists’ families in 2011-2012, 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 fiscal year.
