BCL men attack mobile court in Chittagong

A group of activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of the ruling Awami League, have attacked a mobile court in the Port North Colony area of the city.

The court of Chittagong Port Authority led by Executive Magistrate Mohammed Abul Hashem conducted a drive in the area around 11am where it demolished around 100 structures including several local offices and clubs of different political parties illegally erected on roads 1 to 5.

Abul Hashem said a group of BCL activists belonging to the Sheikh Kamal group hurled brickbats on them as they reached road 5.

Around 1pm, the court was trying to demolish a local political club of Awami League, illegally set up on road 5, when the men arrived on the spot and barred them.

Police fired blank shots to disperse the demonstrating BCL men and brought the situation under control, he said.
