A teenage boy has been killed as a bus knocked him in the capital's Dhanmondi area, triggering a protest among the locals.
Dhanmondi OC Nur-e-Azam Mia confirmed the death to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “Victim Fahim Ahmed, 12, was getting down from a bus of Transilva when another bus knocked him down in front of Anwar Khan Medical College Hospital on Dhanmondi-Mirpur road around 1:15pm Wednesday.”
The OC said Fahim was taken to Anwar Khan Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead. Later, the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
The driver of the killer bus has been detained, the OC added.
Angry mob vandalised both the buses and set fire to one protesting the accident, he said.
